Although The Genealogy of the Greenlee Families in America was privately published in 1908 it is very well written, formatted for ease of reading and identifying family members, and has an excellent introduction of the history explaining the tumult of the 1600s and the 1700s that resulted in the mass emigration of the Scottish and Irish to America. The index is easy to use. There is also an index of place names and numerous illustrations. Most importantly for me there is a 35 page section on the McDowells of Virginia and Kentucky. I have read parts of this genealogy in other publications. It is clearly a well used resource and I may find myself returning for clarification.
